yoko:10 joins Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce
As a new-start business, finding the right marketing channel can be a daunting and costly prospect. Sometimes though, inspiration can be found very close to home.
As a long-time fan of the classic Mini, having owned a few in my formative years, I jumped at the chance last year to buy a dilapidated, but much coveted Paul Smith special edition Mini – one of only 300 in the UK.
Following some repair work – okay rather a lot of repair work – the Mini was back on the road, save a few ‘pit stops’, and I set about re-living my youth.
It was during this youthful reawakening I decided to form yoko:10, to help small to medium-sized businesses transform the way they work using Microsoft’s Cloud collaboration and communications platform.
After taking the plunge and going into business on my own, I began to picture that same mini buzzing around town, all fixed up, vinyl wrapped and branded – a calling card if you like to get the name out there in a fun and quirky way.
I can’t say everyone was convinced by the idea, but to me it just felt right – the Mini was to be the symbolic start of this new business venture.
So it was with great delight I recently drove the newly wrapped, bright blue yoko:10 Mini from Sheffield to its new Edinburgh home – a journey I hope not be repeating in a hurry but yoko:10 has arrived.
