Vitality Dental and Optical team taking part in Edinburgh Marathon Festival
The team at Vitality Dental and Optical will be taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival this year, and will be running the 10K race in aid of The Sick Kids Friends Foundation. The race is taking place on Saturday 30th May, in Edinburgh’s beautiful Holyrood Park.
The Royal Hospital for Sick Children (The Sick Kids) was the first children’s hospital in Scotland, opened in 1895 by Princess Beatrice, grand-daughter of Queen Victoria. The Hospital is made up of 7 wards; The Intensive Care Unit, The High Dependency Unit, 5 Operation Theatres, Out-Patients Clinic and the Accident and Emergency Clinic, taking in patients from just a few hours old up to 16 years. Facilities are also available for specialist treatment for scoliosis and epilepsy and also ear reconstruction surgery. The hospital treats over 100,000 kids a year mostly from, but not limited to, Edinburgh, The Lothian’s and Fife.
The Sick Kids Friends Foundation supports and works with The Sick Kids Hospital and other Children’s Healthcare providers across Scotland. The SKFF’s aim is to provide the 100,000 kids that visit the hospital, and thousands of others that are cared for in their local community, with the highest level of care. The money donated by the public to SKFF allows the charity to fund the latest medical equipment and research, staff training, support for families and facilities for them to use and enjoy. Since 1992, thanks to the generosity of those who have donated, The SKFF has raised over 10million pounds for the children and their families.
