Village expansion plans get green light
Award-winning housebuilder, Cruden Homes, part of the Cruden Group, has secured planning permission to build 81 new homes as part of the first phase of the expansion masterplan at Longniddry.
The development, located south of Longniddry Farm and delivered in conjunction with Socially Conscious Capital, Wemyss and March Estates and Taylor Architecture & Urbanism, features high quality and distinctive new housing, integrated with the existing settlement.
Designed by architects Halliday Fraser Munro and Ben Pentreath, a variety of traditional house styles that are picturesque, characterful and archetypal of East Lothian design detailing, will be constructed on a fabric first basis and will make use of renewable technologies, including photovoltaic panels integrated into roof finishes to reduce the visual impact.
Set in an attractive landscaped environment, including extensive green spaces, the village has been sustainably designed with the environment in mind, including the creation of a wildlife corridor along the existing Braid’s Burn.

Work is expected to begin in Autumn with the first homes ready in 2020.
