Travel advice for rugby fans heading to Scotland v Italy at Murrayfield
The ScotRail Alliance is reminding rugby fans travelling to Scotland’s final Six Nations home game that trains will be extremely busy to and from Edinburgh.
Scotland take on Italy at Murrayfield on Saturday 18 March, kicking off at 12.30pm.
As with most special events, the train operator will be adding carriages to as many trains as possible before and after the games.
A ScotRail Alliance spokesperson said: “The Six Nations matches are a big draw. We’ve done absolutely everything we can to boost capacity on key routes into the capital. We can’t make every train longer but will definitely be using every train we have on the day.
“If you’re going to Murrayfield, please allow extra time for travel, and buy your ticket in advance, not on the day. The last trains of the day will be very busy, so please aim for an earlier service to avoid disappointment.”
The ScotRail Alliance will have extra staff on the ground to assist fans and, as with all special event trains, alcohol bans will be in place.
