Top Law Firm in Edinburgh Celebrates International Women’s Day
#BeBoldForChange
DLA Piper in Edinburgh is hosting an event to celebrate the success of its inspirational female lawyers as part of International Women’s Day on Wednesday 8 March.
The firm’s Edinburgh Leadership Alliance for Women (LAW) committee will challenge attendees to take ground breaking action that truly drives the greatest change for females to mark this year’s theme – #BeBoldForChange.
Women and men from industries including finance, technology and property are set to attend the event at the firm’s Rutland Square office. It’s being hosted by business coach and author of Female Breadwinners, Dr Suzanne Doyle-Morris, who helps companies build inclusive leadership skills.
Hazel Moffat, head of DLA Piper’s litigation and regulatory practice in Scotland, said: “International Women’s Day is a celebration of how far we have come for gender parity but also highlights the work that is still left to do. It has been predicted by the World Economic Forum that the gender gap won’t close entirely until 2186 – this is far too long to wait, we need to act now.
“The aim of our event is to inspire women in business to be bold, confident and successful. As part of an interactive workshop, everyone will be asked to take part in virtual simulations of real life situations that look at complex issues around inclusion and diversity. It will be an effective and hopefully fun way of prompting behaviour change to encourage businesses to act now.”
DLA Piper was named Best International Firm for Women in Business Law at the Euromoney LMG Europe Women in Business Law Awards and Best Gender Diversity Initiative in an International Firm in 2016.
