The ScotRail Alliance today confirmed that extra services will be provided for Edinburgh spectators and runners on Sunday 28 May.
The extra trains are due to run between Edinburgh and Prestonpans from early afternoon onwards. All trains will serve Wallyford and Musselburgh stations, near to the finishing line.
ScotRail also advise that, due to platform extension works, a small number of services will start or terminate at Haymarket, rather than Edinburgh Waverley.
A ScotRail Alliance spokesperson said: “Please allow extra time for travel, and buy your ticket in advance, not on the day. The last trains of the day are likely to be busy, so please aim for an earlier service to avoid disappointment.”
The Edinburgh Marathon Festival is Scotland’s largest running event of its kind and takes place between 30-31 May. If you didn’t get a place at the London Marathon, don’t worry you are guaranteed a place at this event!

With its flat route, this marathon is one of the fastest in the UK, giving runners the chance to achieve that elusive personal best.

- Create an account (click on the ‘My Details’ log in icon)
- Choose either the Full or Half event, click ‘Enter for Charity’ and select ‘Barnardo’s’ from the list of affiliate charities.
On Friday 29th August, Geoghegans Chartered Accountants will be taking part in the RSABI Great Glen Challenge 2014. With 23 other teams competing in the challenge, team Geoghegans have been preparing for the gruelling task ahead. The team will be taking part in: a half marathon, a 34km mountain bike ride, a 7km kayak course and a 10km walk. This ‘taxing’ task is all to help raise funds for the Scottish Charity RSABI which was established in 1897. The team has already raised over £1,000 for the Charity, who are established to provide financial assistance, support and advice to people who work in Scotland’s in land-based occupations and who are suffering hardship. Every year RSABI helps hundreds of people with backgrounds in farming, crofting, forestry, horticulture, fish-farming, gamekeeping and rural estate work who, due to illness, disability, poverty or crisis, find that they are unable to cope. The team are ready for the challenge ahead and are hoping to bring the winning title back with them. We wish them all the best.
