SS Explorer Preservation Society open the doors
Volunteers from the SS Explorer Preservation Society took part in this years Advent open doors days by being one of the groups hiding behind Leith’s Custom House door on the 7th.
Although the weather wasn’t great the turnout at Custom House was fantastic and our volunteers were kept busy for the whole day chatting to people about the history of the Fishery Research Ship Explorer, the progress we have made so far and our vision for the Explorers future.
Our stand had a number of small artifacts from the ship, as well as photos of the Explorer past and present and we had short film showing Explorer carrying out research.
We would like to thank everyone who stopped to talk, made a donation or picked up a membership form. In total we managed to raise £100 on the day and had 2 new members join.
The society is entirely run by volunteers and we are always looking for more members and volunteers to help out either onboard or as a director, if you would like to find out more get in touch.
