SP Energy Networks Project FUSION: USEF Consultation
Our energy landscape is constantly evolving, with ongoing challenges on sustainability, security of supply and affordability. Our networks are crucial to helping government meet its #NetZero targets to tackle climate change by facilitating activities such as the uptake of Low Carbon Technologies. As the demand continues to grow, we need to find smarter ways to manage our assets as we move towards the network of the future, and we see flexibility as a vital part of that.
Project FUSION
At SP Energy Networks we are continually seeking new and innovative ways to accelerate the transition to smart and flexible energy networks. Our Network Innovation Competition (NIC) funded Project FUSION aims to demonstrate the feasibility of using local flexible resources accessible through the internationality recognised, standardised and market-based Universal Smart Energy Framework (USEF).
USEF provides a common standardised role model and market design that enable flexible energy to become a tradeable commodity for all market participants and optimise the use of resources.
Get involved: consultation events
As we explore the suitability of the USEF framework for the GB market, we’re keen to gather valuable feedback from our stakeholders on how this could potentially enhance current and future requirements. We are therefore coordinating a consultation on USEF to provide our stakeholders with that opportunity. Visit the FUSION webpage to read more on the consultation and how to respond.
We are also hosting two public consultation events and would like to extend an invitation to you to join us. These events will provide you an opportunity to hear directly from our project team and other project partners on USEF and the key consultation questions:
GLASGOW

We’d be delighted if you’re able to join us at either event, where you’ll also have the chance to network with other industry colleagues. Please note, there are limited spaces at these events, therefore it is on a first come, first served basis.
However, don’t worry if you are unable to attend, you will still have the opportunity to respond to the consultation to help inform and shape the future of flexibility markets. Visit our website to learn more.
