ScotRail Alliance – Waverley cycle lane opens
The ScotRail Alliance opened a new cycle lane into the heart of the concourse at Waverley station on Thursday 29th October.
Cycling access at Waverley has been an issue raised time and again by our stakeholders. We have listened and we have taken action.
The new cycle lane – which includes gated barriers at the foot of the ramp, road markings and new signage – is on the station’s north ramp, with direct access to and from Waverley Bridge.
Servicing the station while balancing the various needs of our passengers is a significant challenge but we are putting our passenger needs first.
The north ramp continues to be required for deliveries in the short to medium term, with solutions being sought to find a long term alternative. As the ramp will be a mixed use facility, we are urging urge all cyclists to exercise caution.
The cycle lane is the first of a range of improvements that we intend to make to cycling facilities at Waverley, including plans to introduce a ScotRail CyclePoint hub by 2018.
