Join us at Divino for another fabulous winemaker dinner, where you’ll enjoy four outstanding San Marzano wines matched with five delicious courses for just £45 per person.

In 1962, the “Cantine San Marzano” was established as a cooperative of 19 vine growers from San Marzano, whose families had farmed the land for generations.  Over the decades this cooperative has grown significantly, attracting over 1200 vine growers, and using modern and technologically advanced plants, elegant wines are produced without forgetting the obligation to the very old Apulian wine tradition.

San Marzano is situated in Apulia, in the heart of the acclaimed DOP “Primitivo di Manduria” area, a strip of land between the Ionian and the Adriatic seas;  countries and landscapes in the province of Taranto and Brindisi where vines and olive trees flourish side by side on a red soil surface.

Seamlessly blending time-honoured traditions, passion and sensibility with contemporary techniques, San Marzano produces wines with distinctive varietal and regional characters, marvellously reflecting individual attention, seasonal variation and local terroir.

The soil and Mediterranean terroir play a fundamental role in the production of high quality wines.  The climate of the region is extreme and the conditions difficult with drought, frost and the Sirocco winds.  But in the hands of San Marzano’s passionate winemakers even the fruits of the oldest bush vines are transformed into full-bodied and elegant wines, capable of considering ageing – wines that can enrich the tasting experience.

We are delighted that Euan Thomson of wine importer Hallgarten Druitt & Novum Wines will be joining us on the 29th September to tell us more about the area and its wines.

So why not join us in celebrating the fabulous wines of San Marzano with an equally exquisite menu to match.  Our wine dinners are always a sell-out so book now to avoid disappointment!
