PwC comments on roll-out of 5G in Edinburgh

Posted: 30th May 2019

Commenting on the roll-out of 5G mobile in Edinburgh today, Lindsay Gardiner, Chairman, PwC Scotland said:

“Edinburgh is at the forefront of digital innovation in the UK and it is fitting to see it included among the first six cities in the country to benefit from an upgrade to EE’s 5G mobile network.

“The city is home to some of the best, most innovative, technology firms outside of the Silicon Valley, from those who have become global names, to the stream of start-ups emerging from Codebase.

“Edinburgh’s £1.3 billion City Deal is also helping re-shape the city as technology centre, with the funding set to transform Edinburgh into the data capital of Europe with the help of Heriot Watt University and The University of Edinburgh.

“Equipping our businesses and universities with cutting-edge technology like 5G mobile, will help deliver on these ambitious goals.

“At PwC, the firm switched to ‘mobile first’ last year and removed landlines from offices. This has driven an increase in flexibility and we look forward to the full adoption of 5G as our business, and that of our clients, becomes more mobile.”
