Planning for Your Future Workshops – February dates still available

Posted: 18th January 2016

Now that the default retirement age is gone, people can be unsure for a number of reasons when it is right for them to consider the transition into retirement.

Our newly designed workshops can help people make an informed choice and we would urge people to attend as soon as possible (1 to 5 years before retirement) as it is never too soon to start planning.

Employers also benefit when their people attend sooner rather than later as our workshops can help with succession planning.  Our feedback is that attendees are much more likely to discuss their future with their employer once they have attended a workshop.

Please visit our new website – http://nowandnext.scot/workshops/one-day-workshops/ where you can now book places for workshops online and find further information

February workshops are as follows with a few places still remaining:

2nd February – Glasgow (Novotel, Pitt Street)

16th February – Edinburgh (Novotel, Laurieston Place)

Our workshops cover:

Early Onset Dementia Awareness Training

One in 14 people will display symptoms of a dementia related illness by the age of 65

Dementia is a common condition that currently affects about 820,000 people in the UK. The risk of developing dementia increases from the age of 65 years onwards, but early onset dementia can affect people a lot younger than 65. Now that people are starting to work longer, it is likely that we will encounter people in the workplace who have a form of dementia. It is important therefore to have a broad understanding of dementia and the issues it may cause for our colleagues – and also our customers if we deal with the general public.

The training is designed as an introduction for people who have little knowledge of dementia, as well as widening knowledge for people who are familiar but would like to learn more.

Subjects covered in training

–          What is dementia?

–          What are the signs and symptoms?

–          What can we do to reduce the risks of developing dementia?

–          Living well with dementia.

–          What legislations do employers need to be aware of?
