In celebration of National Ice Cream Month this month, award winning Hopetoun Farm Shop in South Queensferry decided to give its customers the power to choose what new flavour of ice cream would next hit its shelves – and the results are in.

In collaboration with Eyemouth based ice cream producer, Giacopazzi, Hopetoun Farm Shop’s ice cream loving customers were first asked to come up with suggestions for their favourite ice cream creations and three recipes were shortlisted:

  • Pina Colada – pineapple flavoured ice cream with a swirl of vanilla yoghurt topped with toasted coconut
  • Banana Ice Cream with Nutella and Caramel Swirls
  • Salted Caramel Ice Cream with Chocolate Pieces and Honeycomb.

Customers were invited to Hopetoun Farm Shop on Saturday 11th July to taste the finished products and asked to cast their vote for their favourite flavour.

In the end it was Salted Caramel Ice Cream with Chocolate Pieces and Honeycomb that tasted sweetest for the Farm Shop’s discerning customers.

General Manager Marc Cherrie said, “We are delighted to be working with Giacopazzi on creating new and exciting products for our customers – especially ones that taste so good!

“We had a fantastic turn out for the ice cream tasting, and it was a close contest between the three flavours. In the end the Salted Caramel Ice Cream with Chocolate Pieces and Honeycomb creation by Lesley Cox came out on top.”

The Salted Caramel Ice Cream with Chocolate Pieces and Honeycomb will now be produced and on sale in the Hopetoun Farm Shop, costing £2.49 per 120ml tub.
