The awards are arbitrated by an expert panel of judges from across the UK, including Richard Brown, Fin McCaul, Hemant Patel and Bruce Warner. Lindsay & Gilmour went on to take top honours for two coveted awards – Public Health Pharmacist Award and Pharmacy Business of the Year Award.

Philip Galt, Managing Director said, “We are thrilled to have been recognised by such an esteemed event. Nominations for the Pharmacy Business Awards are something every community pharmacy strives for but to actually win multiple awards is an absolute honour.”

Now in its 15th year, the Pharmacy Business Awards shines the spotlight on the critical role community pharmacy plays in the UK. With the NHS continually struggling against a shortage of funds and a surfeit of patient demand, community pharmacies exists to ease the burden. Award winners take to the stage in front of a distinguished audience of pharmacy heads, pharmaceutical company executives and politicians. This year’s high profile guests included Keith Vaz, chair of home affairs select committee and health minister Ben Gummer.

As an independent business that’s grown from a single shop to an award winning group with locations across Central Scotland, Fife and the Scottish Borders, Lindsay & Gilmour is the epitome of a Pharmacy Business Awards nominee. Rather than simply stock a uniform range of national standard products, each branch tailors its services and merchandise to fit the unique needs of its community. It’s this bespoke approach to pharmacy that sets the company apart from its competitors, and ultimately won it the crown of 2015 Pharmacy Business Awards ‘Pharmacy Business of the Year.’

Originally established by Robert Lindsay in 1826, Lindsay & Gilmour has been trading in the same Elm Row, Edinburgh site for almost 200 years. This makes it one of Scotland’s oldest pharmacies, enduring generation after generation of change. Today, Lindsay & Gilmour operate 27 pharmacies across Scotland. Customers enjoy a full range of modern pharmacy services issued by well informed, friendly staff.

The company Chairman, Nigel Cumming commented, “Lindsay & Gilmour has been excelling in the community pharmacy sphere for almost two centuries and the twin awards confirm that we’re definitely doing something right!”
