The Keeper of the Registers of Scotland, Sheenagh Adams, announces that she is stepping down from her role.

Speaking at her annual Christmas reception at the National Gallery in Edinburgh, the keeper signed off on a remarkable year for RoS, and told stakeholders and partners that she was ready to hand over the Great Seal and the 18 public registers under her control.

Sheenagh joined RoS as Managing Director in 2006, becoming keeper in 2009. During her time at the helm, Sheenagh has overseen a process of ongoing dynamic change. Just this year alone, RoS celebrated the 400th Anniversary of the General Register of Sasines, saw the roll out of our Digital Discharge Service, and the launch of ScotLIS. RoS also hosted the Registrars of Title Conference for the first time ever in Scotland, bringing colleagues from all over the world to Edinburgh to share their insight and expertise.

Speaking about her decision, Sheenagh said:

“We are a very different business to the one I joined in 2006, as Managing Director. As we continue with an ambitious programme of business change that will see us become fully digital by 2020, I am delighted to have been part of that drive to change and improve our business for both customers and colleagues alike.

“But all good things must come to an end, and I would like to share with you my decision to step down from my role as Keeper of the Registers of Scotland. I know that I am leaving RoS in a great place, ready to move forward with its change programme, delivering real value for all of our stakeholders. The achievements made over the last 12 years have been in no small part down to the hard work of colleagues across the business and I thank them for their support.”

Sheenagh will officially leave her role as keeper in March 2018.
