Hart Builders to deliver multi-million pound housing project in Galashiels

Posted: 30th June 2020

Eildon Housing Association has appointed Hart Builders, part of the Cruden Group, to deliver a multi-million-pound affordable housing development at Huddersfield Street in Galashiels.

Due to begin in July, the £5.7m development will see 34 new homes built in a five-storey building, designed to reflect the historic mills in the area.

The 34 new homes will provide much needed new affordable housing and will consist of a mix of one, two and three-bedroom apartments.  The development, due to complete towards the end of 2021, will also offer lift access and includes residents parking and cycle storage.

Andy Mallice, managing director of Hart Builders, said: “We are delighted to continue our strong working relationship with Eildon as we begin working on this exciting new development in Galashiels to bring quality affordable homes to the area.”

“Hart Builders, as part of the Cruden Group, ensures that all developments support the local community, and on this development, we have been working with the local schools who designed and completed the Ivor Goodsite murals, and these will continue to be displayed on the site hoarding throughout the construction works.  We will also be offering opportunities to local sub-contractors to ensure we maximise the benefits of the project for the local economy.”

Nile Istephan, Eildon Housing Association chief executive, said: “We’re looking forward to continuing our work with Hart Builders, to deliver these new energy efficient affordable homes which will make a real difference to people’s lives. The need to deliver inclusive growth in the Borders is still our priority during these unprecedented times.”
