Good News for Scottish Business
Commenting on the release of official data which shows that Scotland’s GDP grew by 1.0% in the first quarter of 2014, therefore exceeding UK GDP growth of 0.8%. Figures indicate an annual growth in Scottish GDP of 2.6%, when comparing the first quarter in 2014 to the same quarter in 2013.
Liz Cameron, Chief Executive of Scottish Chambers of Commerce, said:
“News of continued growth in the Scottish economy is welcome. The largest growth was experienced in the total output in the Production sector which grew by 2.1%, driven by growth in manufacturing of 3.4%.
“Various sectors are experiencing an increase in economic activity and future investment will be essential to continue this journey. Particular attention should be paid to monitoring the skills shortage in some sectors to maintain the path of growth.”
