Follow the yellow brick road…to Edinburgh Castle?

Posted: 14th July 2015

At first glance, you wouldn’t think of the Bread St and Spittal St junction as a Hollywood feature. But did you know that this is the very location where the Art Director for the Wizard of Oz lived?

The view from George Gibson’s humble flat is said to have inspired Gibson to create, undoubtedly the most memorable and iconic scene of Dorothy first seeing the Emerald City!

If you’re looking to capture Dorothy’s eye view, head to the junction on Bread St and Spittal St and behold, Emerald City! If you want to sit and admire the view from more comfortable surroundings, bask in the glory of the view from the Monboddo Bar, part of the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Edinburgh City Centre.

P.s. did you also know that the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Edinburgh City Centre venue is also where Sean Connery had his first job as a milkman when it was the Cooperative?
