Farm Shop Celebrates Its 4th Birthday With A Family BBQ Day
Hopetoun Farm Shop in West Lothian has announced plans to celebrate its 4th birthday by holding a Family BBQ Day on Saturday 13th June, from 12 – 4pm. The annual celebrations include activities for all the family and opportunities to taste some of some of the Farm Shop’s award winning produce.
As part of the celebrations, children are invited to paint a large outdoor mural on the Farm Shop’s new cold store, which, along with the appointment of a fourth full time butcher, has just been added in response to increased demand for butchery and deli produce. Budding young artists can decorate the cold store with paintings of their favourite food to create a giant produce themed mural, with art supplies provided.
There will also be a chance to meet the farming team – both animal and human – with Farm Manager Mike Eagers bringing along some of the Hopetoun Estate’s furry and feathered friends.
Whilst the kids are being artistic, parents can enjoy tasty samples of locally produced ales from De Brus brewery in Dunfermline and Hopetoun’s very own Aberdeen Angus steak burgers. Edinburgh patisserie Zukr, Perthshire chocolatier Wicked and Fife producers Chillilicious are also among the array of Scottish suppliers offering visitors a free taste of their latest products on offer at Hopetoun Farm Shop.
Marc Cherrie, Hopetoun Farm Shop’s General Manager, is keen to increase community engagement: “We’re keen to showcase the incredible local produce available in the shop whilst connecting with our local community. Events like these not only help us achieve that but it’s a great day out for all the family.
“Visitors can also pick up some of our award winning Hopetoun Estate venison, which was recently shortlisted at the Scotland Food and Drink Excellence Awards. We were just pipped to the post in the category by Peelham Farm, but we don’t mind too much as we sell their products in the Farm Shop – it was a win/win for us!”
