A wealth of famous faces from the world of sport are backing the ‘Big Sporty Quiz’ – the latest virtual fundraiser to be hosted by Children’s Hospices Across Scotland, better known as CHAS.

The event will take place on Facebook Live at 7pm on Friday 28^th August, with questions being asked by sporting legends such as Frank McAvennie and Liz McColgan.

The host for the evening is popular Scottish broadcaster, David Tanner who will put everyone’s sporting knowledge to the test over seven rounds on a range of topics including football history, rugby, tennis and golf.

As Scotland’s only children’s hospice charity, CHAS helps support children with life-shortening conditions and their families to make special memories that will last forever.

Because of the coronavirus pandemic, the charity, like many others, has had to dramatically transform the way in which it operates and adapt to new ways of fundraising.

Other well-known sporting personalities taking part in the Big Sporty Quiz include Scottish rugby stars, Jonny Gray and Stuart McInally; three-time Olympian, Hannah Miley; athlete Liz McColgan; footballer, Lizzie Arnot; Scotland Women’s Football Manager, Shelley Kerr; ex-Scotland rugby player, Kenny Logan and his TV presenter wife, Gabby Logan.

Line of Duty star, Martin Compston, who is a former professional Scottish footballer will also be asking a question on the night from his home in Las Vegas.

In addition to the quiz, there will also be a raffle and an online auction with some truly fantastic prizes to be won including a signed Scotland rugby shirt, a signed Scotland rugby ball, a top signed by both Chris Hoy and Adam Peaty, an Auchentoshan Distillery tour, two premiership hospitality match tickets and a two-night golf trip to Aberdeen plus many more.

Throughout the coronavirus pandemic, CHAS has continued to support children with life-shortening conditions across Scotland.

While both Rachel House in Kinross and Robin House in Balloch have been providing end of life care, the charity has also extended its CHAS at Home service and now also runs a virtual children’s hospice to support families who are having to completely self-isolate.

Through this service, families are offered extensive support by phone and video on important issues such as clinical guidance, financial advice and bereavement. CHAS family support teams also offer a range of interactive activities, art clubs, storytelling and friendship calls to children and parents.
