Environment and community week concludes stagecoach togetherness campaign
-Activities planned to celebrate our environment and local communities
-Stagecoach children’s books donated to Cash for Kids
-Environment and Community Week helps bring month long Stagecoach Getting There Together initiative to a close
Bus company Stagecoach East Scotland is celebrating its local communities and the Environment this week.
The week also marks the end of a month long Getting There Together initiative across Stagecoach companies within the UK which has also focused on customer service, safety, wellbeing and inclusion.
Stagecoach East Scotland will hold activities to help raise money for local charities and to help promote protecting the environment.
Charity activity will include:
- Donating Stagecoach children’s books to the local branch of Cash for Kids, a national children’s charity
- Collecting non-perishable goods for local food banks
A children’s book called Stagecoach Saves the Buzzy Bees has also been published by Stagecoach Group. Copies of the paperback book, whose cartoon characters are based on well known Stagecoach transport vehicles, have been donated to Cash for Kids. The book tells the tale of a swarm of bees that have lost their way and have found themselves on board a tram. The day is saved when they are delivered to a field where local children are sowing wildflowers. The story shares the important message that bees are not to be feared and are vital in keeping our crops and plants alive.
To help spread the word of the importance of bees and bugs to a wider audience, Stagecoach Group has also developed to help teach viewers how to build a bug hotel. The video is available here: https://youtu.be/47c_E0EdBAk
The campaign week marks the end of a four-week series of events across Stagecoach called Getting There Together. The initiative placed emphasis on a number of key areas including customer service, safety, wellbeing, community and environment.
Robert Andrew, Managing Director Stagecoach Scotland said: “We understand that our services are important to local communities. Whether we’re taking people to work, taking them shopping or to visit their families we play an important part in our passenger’s lives. This is why we want to give something back and hope that by raising funds for local charities and donating these books we can have a positive impact on our local communities.”
