Employing staff with (criminal) conviction: Hiring and firing ex-offenders
Only 17% of ex-offenders get a job within 1 year of leaving prison whereas two-third of companies employing ex-offenders would recommend others to do the same.
Can an employer take into account a candidate’s criminal record and can they refuse to offer employment? Does an existing employee have a duty to disclose a new conviction or if an employer discovers this, can they dismiss him or her?
The Award-Winning Employment Law Team are providing an alternative to stuffy employment law seminars and HR networking events for HR professionals, business owners and managers. We’re here to inform, challenge, discuss and share our knowledge and experience with you – and to give you the opportunity to do the same for others at our quarterly Employers’ Forum. Circle of trust rules apply, of course.
