Edinburgh Property Investment Specialists Spot Rise in Interested Investors Despite Recent Tax Increases
Edinburgh property investment and lettings specialist Cullen Property noticed a 30% rise in potential investors showing interest in Edinburgh property at the Property Investor & Homebuyer Show 2016.
The Property Investor & Homebuyer Show reported an increase of 13% in the number of attendees at last month’s show, demonstrating that despite the Land and Buildings Transaction Tax (LBTT) implementation, and the recent introduction of a second-home tax, serious investors are still showing interest in property as an investment opportunity.
Steve Coyle, Operations Director at Cullen Property, says: “Investors stated they were preferring to move away from London investment feeling that the property market there had peaked and were keen on exploring other UK investment hotspots.
They were interested particularly in Edinburgh as, unlike other major UK cities, it has the diversity of being a major student centre, as well as being the second tourist city destination in the UK. They were particularly interested in the city’s heritage and quality property on offer. Pleasingly, long-term serious property investors do not seem to have been deterred by the recent tax changes.”
