Edinburgh locals to get fired up on the forth for St Columba’s hospice

Posted: 2nd August 2018

Local groups from across Edinburgh and the Lothians will be competing to win St Columba’s Hospice’s first ever Dragon Boat Race on Saturday 22 September at Ocean Terminal, with all proceeds raised going to the Hospice.

The event, which is part of a corporate charity partnership with Ocean Terminal, will see over 19 teams, with more than 300 participants battling it out for the coveted first place. Teams from, BlackRock, Royal Bank of Canada, Space Solutions, the Scottish Government and the Hospice have already signed up to challenge reigning champions, Ocean Terminal, for the crown of Dragon Boat Winners 2018!

Barbara Brockie, Corporate Fundraiser at St Columba’s Hospice, said: “It’s great to see so many corporate groups involved in our Dragon Boat Race. We are delighted to have teams from across the capital get involved and raise money for St Columba’s Hospice. The Hospice relies on donations to fund the majority of its running costs, and the support and generosity we receive from corporate groups is exceptional. We are so glad that we can host such a fun and exciting event for them to take part in.”

Spectators will have the chance to view the races from the food hall balcony of Ocean Terminal. Refreshments will be on offer, as well as family-fun activities including games and face painting. The champions will be awarded a 1st prize trophy, with prizes also going to best fancy dress and best boat or team name.

A limited number of team places are still available for St Columba’s Hospice Dragon Boat Race. If you know a group or team interested visit https://www.everydayhero.co.uk/event/stcolumbashospicedragonboatrace or phone the fundraising team on 0131 551 1381.
