Edinburgh hotel thanks key workers with free night

Posted: 1st April 2021

A leading hotel and golf resort on the outskirts of Edinburgh, Dalmahoy Hotel & Country Club, is offering a free overnight stay to key workers as a thank you to those who have kept our country running this past year.

When key workers such as teachers, the armed forces and NHS, care home and supermarket staff book a minimum of one night stay at the hotel during 2021, they will receive a complimentary second night stay on Dalmahoy.

The leading hotel and golf resort will reopen on Thursday 29 April 2021 as Scotland eases lockdown and allows the accommodation and hotel sector to reopen.

Murray Thomson, the new general manager at the independently-branded hotel, said: “We are really excited to welcome guests back to our hotel and we want to reopen with a strong message to those who have kept our country running this year: thank you – we are forever grateful. You have been our absolute heroes during the most challenging of times and you deserve some well-earned rest and relaxation with us when we reopen on 29 April.”

He continued: “Many of our team have key workers in their family and know only too well the sacrifices which have been made this past year – it’s time to say thank you.”

Thomson is upbeat about the future of Scotland’s hospitality sector and being given the green light to reopen: “I’m optimistic about the reawakening of Scotland’s hospitality sector this year and the part we can play in helping create much-needed joy in people’s lives. When you’re part of the hospitality community, you spend most of your day with people creating happiness and this is even more important in the times we currently find ourselves in.  We will go out of our way to create good times ahead, of course within the parameters set out to us.”

The hotel, which is set in 1,000 acres of countryside yet only seven miles from Edinburgh city centre, has been closed for the second time since coronavirus lockdown restrictions were introduced at the end of December and will reopen with thorough safety measures in place to allow guests a comfortable and relaxing stay.

Golf members have enjoyed making use of the resort’s two golf courses – one of which is a Championship course – throughout this latest lockdown.  The tennis courts, children’s play park, the Dalmahoy pool and indoor gym for individual exercise will also reopen on 29 April.
