Dales Marine Services invests in state-of-the-art generators to support its expansion plans

Posted: 22nd December 2023

Dales Marine Services Ltd is delighted to announce the acquisition of 20 new welding generators from MB Plant, Peterhead. The company has purchased new assets for four of its five facilities, including Aberdeen, Leith, Greenock, and Troon. This investment will enhance the capabilities of Dales Marine, enabling them to provide better services to their clients.

MB Plant has been a supplier for Dales Marine for 25 years, providing a variety of plant equipment to the business. The newly acquired welding generators are replacements for older machines and will be utilised on-site at the Dales Marine facilities and remotely at clients’ sites, as required.

As part of a more extensive investment program to acquire new equipment, new welding generators have been purchased for Dales Marine’s four main facilities. Aberdeen, Greenock, Leith, and Troon have been experiencing a steady increase in the number of vessels coming to their docks for scheduled maintenance and repairs, and the new welding generators will aid in the fabrication of new steelwork, and support ship repair and maintenance operations.

Gary Norrie, the Project Manager at Dales Marine Services based in Aberdeen, recently led this project, and was delighted to take delivery at the Aberdeen yard. Gary said: “The new diesel welding generators will provide a more flexible solution at our sites. The new equipment offers welders superior welding performance, and simultaneous use of welding and 110V/415V AC auxiliary power.  They will prove invaluable when working on the docked vessels at our yards or remotely. The Dales Marine team regularly work on remote-based projects, and the new welding generators are expected to be a game changer for them.”

Paul O’Brien, the Operations Director of Dales Marine Services, expressed his delight with the recent investment. He mentioned that the company has also invested significantly in new plant and vehicles which are due to arrive within the next few weeks. They will be ready for operational use after the Christmas break.
