Cullen Property team pledges to walk, run and cycle from Scotland to America to support mental health charity

Posted: 12th March 2021

Cullen to Cullen virtual initiative is set to raise a minimum of £2,000 for Scottish mental health charity, Penumbra

The team of Edinburgh residential property investment and lettings specialist Cullen Property has pledged to walk, cycle and run the distance from Cullen in Morayshire to Cullen in New York State in a bid to raise money for Scottish mental health charity Penumbra.

Cullen Property’s energetic employees will cover a minimum of 3,173 miles in an effort to raise a minimum of £2,000 for the charity. Their progress will be measured via tracking apps, with regular updates posted on the team’s fundraising website:

Cullen Property Managing Director Steve Coyle, said: “The pandemic has really put the spotlight on the importance of caring for our mental health. Most of us will have felt stressed or anxious at some point over the past 12 months, and our team at Cullen Property is no exception.

“Many of our staff felt that exercise has helped them cope and chatting about how far team members had run or cycled is really how the idea to cover the distance – virtually –  from Cullen (Moray) to Cullen (New York State) was born.”

The team hope to cover the distance 31st December 2021 allowing them to pass on the funds raised to Penumbra. For those team members less athletically inclined, walking is an alternative option.

Cullen Property Marketing Manager Scott Binnie said: “Despite being relatively unknown outside of the mental health community, Penumbra is one of Scotland’s largest charities in the field.

“We felt that their positive approach and their combined focus on mental wellbeing and life circumstances stood out from the crowd. We are delighted to support Penumbra’s work with our Cullen to Cullen initiative.”

Since the start of the pandemic almost one year ago Cullen Property has successfully managed to adapt business practices, allowing them to keep staff, tenants and landlords safe with minimal disruption to operations.

The Cullen Property team were among the first Edinburgh letting agents to successfully implement virtual viewings back in March 2020, allowing tenants to view and book their properties totally online.

Cullen Property specialises in HMO property investment and is one of Edinburgh’s leading student letting agents, currently managing circa 400 properties in Edinburgh including 207 HMO properties. The Cullen Property team can source, acquire and transform a dated spacious Edinburgh property into a modern HMO licensed accommodation in prime city centre locations. The company introduced virtual viewings in March 2020.
