Call for sponsorship of Eurocities AGM

Posted: 9th September 2015

The City of Edinburgh Council is bidding for the 2017 Eurocities AGM and conference. This prestigious event is the annual meeting and platform for European city representatives to discuss key urban challenges faced by cities in the EU. Last year the Eurocities AGM and conference was attended by 50 leading politicians from European, as well as several representatives from EU institutions. Hosting the 2017 Eurocities AGM would provide the city and key business representatives with a  valuable chance to interact with key policy makers from across Europe and showcase Edinburgh’s fields of excellence.

Eurocities provides a high profile international platform for Europe’s most important cities, enabling them to collectively build international influence. Edinburgh has been a member of the Eurocities network since 1991 and has reaped significant benefits in terms of international profile, policy development, access to EU funding, good practice exchange, peer learning and benchmarking with other European cities. The host city is able to propose the theme to be developed for the conference, drawing on its key strengths and areas of good practice. The City of Edinburgh Council is leading the bid, however is looking to raise an additional £300k in sponsorship, which could be split between a number of sponsors. The deadline for the AGM bid is 25 September.

In 2014, the Eurocities AGM and conference was held in Munich, and was sponsored by BMW, Siemens and Stadtwerke München (SWM) and the City of Munich’s utility company. In 2015, the Eurocities AGM and conference is to be held in Malmo/Copenhagen. Sponsors confirmed so far are Skanetrakifen, the regional public transportation authority and operator in South Sweden, and CPH, a volunteering agency of Copenhagen.

Sponsoring the 2017 Eurocities AGM would provide the opportunity to raise your profile across Europe and throughout the influential Eurocities network. If you would be interested in sponsorship opportunities, please contact Anne Campbell, anne.campbell@edinburgh.gov.uk.
