Posted: 27th January 2022

The firm’s Corporate Finance team has advised the Edinburgh based private equity firm on the significant acquisition

Burges Salmon’s Corporate Finance team has advised Edinburgh based consumer brand investor and long standing client, Inverleith Limited Partnership, on the majority acquisition of Eden Mill, the St Andrews based contemporary premium gin and single malt scotch whisky brand and distiller.

Inverleith LLP invests in consumer brand companies in the premium food and drink, health and wellness, and lifestyle sectors. It is a former majority stakeholder of The Scotch Malt Whisky Society.

This latest transaction and notable addition to Inverleith’s investment portfolio will see the Eden Mill business undergo considerable growth in Scotland and internationally.

The Burges Salmon team advising on the transaction was led from the firm’s Edinburgh office by Corporate Finance partner Danny Lee, with support from senior associate Katie Carter and other members of the firm’s Commercial, Employment, Intellectual Property, Real Estate, and Planning teams.

Paul Skipworth, Inverleith’s Managing Partner, commented: “We were delighted to once again have the trusted support of Danny, Katie and the wider Burges Salmon team as our legal partners on this transaction. This is a fantastic addition to Inverleith’s portfolio of premium consumer brands. Eden Mill St Andrews has one of the most exciting futures within premium gin and whisky and we are pleased that Inverleith will now be supporting the realisation of its vision.”

Danny Lee comments: “We are pleased to have assisted Inverleith LLP on this significant acquisition which will allow Eden Mill to expand distribution in the UK and abroad.”
