With a £2,500 charity donation up for grabs for any golfer lucky enough to hit a Hole in One on the 11^th Hole there was plenty to play for on Scotland’s Golf Coast.

Business Fours continued on Tuesday with the Edinburgh event on Gullane 2 Golf Course with the weather providing perfect scoring conditions highlighted by six individual scores of over 40 Stableford points.

The events have been supported by Insider.co.uk, Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce and the Scottish Open with golfers from each company split up to maximise opportunities to make new connections there plenty of conversations throughout the event.

It was the golfers from Anderson Strathern who will go into this year’s final with the proud tag of Edinburgh Champions helped by four fine scores.  Team captain Robert McNab, Russell Laughland and David Dewar all shot comfortably into the 30’s and were boosted by Scott Fyfe who scored 43 of his team’s 155 stableford points total.  The team will be playing in support of Parkinson’s UK with the Business Fours charity prize pot up for grabs at the national final where they will be wearing their Royal & Awesome prize trousers with pride.

Qualifying in second place as runners-up was Rathbones Investment Management playing in support of the Teenage Cancer Trust as their chosen charity.  There qualifying chances were helped by a level par round from Keith MacKenzie, 41 points scored by Steven McGowan and bolstered by solid rounds from Justin Armet and Peter McCallum.

Law firm, Clyde & Co were playing for Together for Shorter Lives and qualified in third place as Vikki Melville was the highest scoring lady golfer and supported by some high scoring from team captain David Hutchison who sunk the longest putt on the 18^th Green on his way to shooting 40 points.

With 5 spaces up for grabs at the national final competition was fierce and winning margins were tight with three teams in a tie for 4^th place.  Level on 143 points was defending champions, Riddle & Coghill playing for MND Scotland, the team from Malcolm Hollis playing for Alzheimer’s UK, and Edinburgh Airport who are playing in support of the Yard.  The Airport’s William Wooldridge finished as the highest point scorer on a whopping 49 points as he helped his side qualify for the national final.

In the other individual awards, Ian Coghill from Riddle & Coghill went closest on the 5^th hole and in the second of the Nearest the Pin competitions Gregor Fraser from Edinburgh Airport knocked it closest on the par 3 15^th.  The longest drive was won by Grant Mather from Apogee Document Solutions who knocked it past Derek Houston from Malcolm Hollis for the bragging rights.  Gerry McGuigan lifted the ‘Jekyll & Hyde’ prize for the greatest difference between the outward and inward 9.

With no one fortunate enough to sink a hole in one the charity prize went unclaimed but the stakes get even higher at the national final where an ace will win their chosen charities a bumper £10,000 donation.

All roads now lead to the National Final which will be held on the Burnside course at Carnoustie Golf Links on Tuesday 28^th May where the successful teams from Edinburgh will join others from across the country but only one team will be crowned the 2019 National Business Golf Champions.
