Without vaccination, disease kills approximately 25% of small-scale farmers’ animals in the developing world. A vaccine will typically cost the farmer only a few pennies and provide effective immunity against major livestock diseases, but the vaccines for many such diseases in Africa and Asia are often not available GALVmed, by developing new livestock vaccines, can help to transform the situation – in a truly sustainable and market driven process. GALVmed is a not-for-profit organisation with a unique business model. Nothing is given away, vaccines are sold at their market price to create sustainable economies for these invaluable products and the poor’s assets – their investment portfolios – are protected.
Funding Associates establish the organisational links between GALVmed and financial sector organisations which have relevant and active CSR agendas. This involves presenting the work of GALVmed to these organisations with a view to establishing a funding relationship. The opportunity may appeal to individuals who have time and talent to offer that will translate into high impact work benefiting some of the world’s poorest. It may also be an opportunity to further develop presentation skills while representing a unique and globally acclaimed organisation which is committed to helping some of the poorest people in the world to help themselves. www.galvmed.org
