A family affair: Partnership sees whisky bar open in iconic Edinburgh location

Two long-standing family businesses have joined forces to create a new whisky bar in the heart of Edinburgh’s historic Old Town.

Ian Macleod Distillers, owners of Glengoyne Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky and Tamdhu Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky, is collaborating with Victor and Carina Contini on this new venture at the top of the Royal Mile which offers a choice of over 150 malt whiskies and a contemporary menu of lunch meals and light bites.

A stunning new private event space, The Glengoyne Room, located on the basement level offers a fantastic area for bespoke events, including private whisky tastings, dinners and corporate events. The Glengoyne Room can cater for up to 40 people.

Cannonball House is a three-storey eating and drinking experience. One of Edinburgh’s oldest recorded buildings, the name comes from the cannonball shot lodged in the wall facing the castle. Cannonball Bar mixes a stylish, contemporary whisky bar atmosphere with authentic influences directly from Glengoyne Distillery, near Loch Lomond.

Carina Contini said: “At Contini we are all about family and offering our customers a fantastic eating and drinking experience. We’re so happy to be collaborating with Glengoyne, who share our ethos and passion.

“In addition to the superb Glengoyne and Tamdhu collections, we offer a vast selection of whiskies from all over Scotland. It’s the perfect place to host bespoke events and parties in one of the most iconic locations in the world.”

Cannonball Bar will be open Tuesday-Saturday from 11am until late. A full list of whiskies on offer can be found here.
