tHe Haymarket get involved in St Mary’s Cathedral restoration
tHe Haymarket, a £200 million office, retail and leisure development in the centre of Edinburgh, is working in partnership with St Mary’s Cathedral to upgrade the Cathedral grounds. As a World Heritage Site in the centre of Edinburgh, the restoration project at St Mary’s Cathedral is an ongoing process. tHe Haymarket Development team have been heavily involved in ground leveling work and removing derelict concrete, to enable natural stone paving to be laid.
Speaking about the help from tHe Haymarket, St Mary’s Cathedral Provost The Very Revd Dr Graham Forbes CBE said: “The works carried out by tHe Haymarket Development will enable safe access for all to the Walpole Hall and the Medical Centre, in particular those requiring disabled access. “Working in partnership with tHe Haymarket Development team has meant that additional works to those originally envisaged have been carried out, and the Cathedral is indebted to them for their help.” David Westwater, Development Director, said of the project: “We have always been keen to get involved in the local community and when St Mary’s Cathedral were needing help with restoration works we jumped at the chance to lend a hand.”
