Santander and Craigroyston High become Partners
Following ECC Inspiring Talent Finance and Banking meet and discussion, Craigroyston Community High School and Santander have developed a partnership that is having a positive impact on young people.
In May 2015 Santander Commercial & Corporate Banking held a week-long business festival in St Andrew Square, Edinburgh. A portable ‘Red Box’ was set up to celebrate the ‘breakthrough moments’ of many Scottish businesses. It hosted 20 different events with around 400 people passing through the box over the course of the week.
Seven volunteers from Craigroyston Community High School assisted Santander in the run up to the event with some of the planning. This included creating a professional logo for the business festival as well as meeting and negotiating with caterers from Eteaket, in order to arrange catering within a given budget for guests during the festival.
The pupils involved thoroughly enjoyed the challenge and opportunity presented to them by Santander. They worked well as a team, communicated in a professional manner, developed and presented numerous presentations throughout the process. The pupils benefited from new experiences, developed new skills and increased in confidence – an opportunity they will never forget.
