Riverside raises £2750 for SANDS Lothians
Children, staff and families from Riverside Cottage Nursery in Blackburn, West Lothian have been fundraising for their long-term charity partner.
In January, Riverside hosted a pop-up veggie cafe, with recipes based on the nursery’s own vegetarian cookbook ‘Free Range Eats’. The event raised £100, which was added to another £150 raised through the sale of hand-made decorations and cards in the nursery’s Christmas shop. Added to £2500 raised recently, this brings the fundraising total for SANDS to £2750.
Luke Addison, manager at Riverside, said: “Everyone is really into fundraising for SANDS because one of our team experienced the trauma of losing two precious babies. SANDS Lothians helped her and her family – and our staff – to cope. We are thrilled to be able to help by raising money and awareness, and we are now approaching at £3000 mark.”
Nicola Welsh, Chief Executive at SANDS Lothians, said: “We are so pleased to continue to have the support of the team at Riverside Cottage Nursery. This small, local business keeps coming up with innovative ways to raise money which will go towards providing compassionate care to local families who have experienced the death of their precious baby.”
Riverside’s Free Range Eats recipe book can be purchased here from the shop on the SANDS Lothians website for £5, with all proceeds to the charity.
