Nairn’s scoops award hat trick for gluten free product excellence

Posted: 23rd October 2018

Nairn’s, the UK’s leading producer of Gluten Free products, has been Highly Commended in the prestigious Great British Food Magazine Awards (11th October 2018) for its Gluten Free Rosemary & Sea Salt Flatbreads.  This award comes close on the heels of being Highly Commended, in the Savoury Gluten Free category of The Grocer New Products Awards 2018 and a Gold in the Free From Food Awards 2018 for the same product.

The Great British Food Awards celebrate the country’s finest home-grown ingredients.  The celebrity judging panel included: Michael Roux Jr (star Michelin chef and owner of Le Gavroche), John Torode (MasterChef presenter and chef), Raymond Blanc (Chef and owner of Le Manoir aux Quat’Saisons), Monica Galetti (MasterChef presenter and chef), Caroline Quentin (Patron of Coeliac UK), Madeline Shaw (Nutrition coach, author and influencer) and Rosie Birkett (Food writer, stylist and broadcaster).  The Grocer New Product Awards are seen as a celebration of outstanding FMCG innovation, whilst the annual Free From Food Awards are one of the most important fixtures in the free from year recognising the commitment and imagination shown by the food industry in creating allergen free foods.

Made with simple, natural ingredients and pure gluten free oats, the Rosemary & Sea Salt Flatbreads are deliciously light and crispy.  Bigger than a cracker and at only 55 calories per Flatbread, they are the perfect alternative to bread and can be topped with your favourite toppings for a great lunchtime option, or just as good as an accompaniment to soup, salad or a dip.  Conveniently packed in handy pouches of six, the Gluten Free Flatbreads stay fresh as a store cupboard essential or can be taken with you for lunch out of home.

Emma Heath, Head of Marketing at Nairn’s, says, “Our aim was to create a truly outstanding savoury product specifically to tap into the lunch occasion and we are delighted to hear that this has been recognised by food critics and judges in these awards.  Gluten free remains an important growth area in food across the world, and we are continuing to invest to build our GF business – we opened a larger GF bakery just over 18 months ago which has given us the capacity to add to our range all the time with exciting new products. We pride ourselves in making sweet and savoury products that are so good, you’d never know they were gluten free”.
