Barrhead Travel named Best Large Travel Agency in Scotland for 18 years running
Glasgow-based travel group, Barrhead Travel, has scooped a prestigious industry award for Scotland’s Best Large Travel Agency for the 18th consecutive year, as voted for by tour operators and travel suppliers.
The annual Agent Achievement Awards, hosted by Travel Weekly, were held in London on 12th July at Park Plaza Westminster Bridge. Over 800 agents, tour operators, hotel, airlines and travel industry experts from across the UK gathered to celebrate the best of travel from the past 12 months.
Barrhead Travel, who are celebrating their 43rd year in business this year, have retained the title of Best Large Agency for the past eighteen years. Back in 2001, the business had only 2 stores and around 50 staff. Fast-forward to 2018 and the business has rapidly expanded with a growing network of 74 stores across the UK and a team of over 1000 employees.
The business, acquired earlier this year by US-based Travel Leaders Group, recently opened their southern-most store in Southampton, with two additional experience-style stores due to open in the coming months.

Barrhead Travel is due to open a new store in Fort Kinnaird, Edinburgh and are relocating from Greenock to Port Glasgow, doubling the size of the existing team. The Livingston store will also be doubling in size following the acquisition of the unit next door and will re-launch as an experiential store.
While the travel group have yet to reveal further locations, growth is anticipated in key locations across England.
