Yotel checks into Edinburgh with first city centre hotel in europe

Posted: 30th July 2019

YOTEL, the innovative global hospitality brand for smart, tech savvy travellers, officially opens its doors in Edinburgh today, marking the brand’s first city centre opening in Europe and the first of five YOTEL’s slated to open in the next nine months across the continent.

Following the success of YOTEL in cities such as New York, Boston, San Francisco and Singapore, YOTEL Edinburgh will offer a hotel experience driven by sleek minimalistic design and clever use of technology for those who appreciate quality but don’t need the fuss of a traditional luxury hotel or the hefty price tag of many boutique hotels.

“We are thrilled to introduce YOTEL to the historic city of Edinburgh. The city is both a popular tourist and business hub and we think our innovative style of hospitality, technology-driven experiences and contemporary design will suit global travellers and in-the-know locals looking for something new and exciting. YOTEL is like nothing else and will offer an exciting alternative to the more traditional hotel offering in the city,” said Hubert Viriot, YOTEL CEO.

With an enviable central location on Queen Street, close to the city’s world-famous historic hotspots and the charming neighbourhood of Stockbridge, YOTEL Edinburgh has 276 compact cabins – YOTEL speak for rooms – each of them equipped with signature YOTEL features such as the space-saving adjustable SmartBed™ with super comfortable Serta Gel mattresses, refreshing amenities from Urban Skincare, rejuvenating rain showers, multiple power and USB charging ports, free super-fast WiFi, HD SMART TVs with Chromecast and more.

The hotel’s versatile public areas provide a sense of community, offering stylish spaces where guests can eat, drink, work, rest and play. KOMYUNITI, a hip and happening bar at the heart of the hotel, offers easy-come, easy-go hospitality and a programme of curated events from comedy nights to local live bands and DJs.

YOTEL Edinburgh will also introduce KOHI to the city – a bright and airy cafe where locals and travellers alike can grab their caffeine fix that is seasonally selected exclusively for YOTEL by Workshop Coffee. Part of a global partnership, they will offer guests single-origin coffee to accompany a selection of freshly baked pastries, crisp salads and hearty sandwiches.

In a first for Scotland, the hotel also brings Imaginex, a state-of-the-art, 360-degree projection space providing a unique opportunity for film screenings, social events, product launches and meetings.

Stuart Douglas, General Manager of YOTEL Edinburgh said: “A stay at YOTEL is all about intuitive service and saving our guests time so that they can get on with things that are important to them.  We are incredibly excited about showcasing the YOTEL hospitality experience for the first time in Scotland and we anticipate that we will be very popular with guests, whether visiting the city from abroad or enjoying a staycation, as well as our neighbours popping into KOHI and KOMYUNITI.”

Additional amenities at YOTEL Edinburgh include airline-style self-service kiosks, a modern gym open 24/7 and two interconnecting creative meeting spaces equipped with modern AV technology.
