Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP acting for Speymalt Whisky Distributors new distillery at Craggan

Posted: 4th June 2018

Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP (WJM) is delighted to be acting for Speymalt Whisky Distributors on their newly announced distillery at Craggan, near Grantown-on-Spey.

This will become the first new malt whisky distillery to be built in the Cairngorms National Park since its creation in 2003. The multi million pound investment by Speymalt is expected to become a major tourist attraction and significant local employer.

Angus MacLeod, Partner in Wright, Johnston & Mackenzie LLP’s Inverness office said “Speymalt, owners of Gordon & MacPhail and Benromach Distillery, are longstanding clients of WJM. As a multi-generational family business, Speymalt has a successful track record of making long-term investments just like this. WJM are very pleased to be working with Speymalt on this dynamic and innovative proposal. It is an opportunity for us and our clients to play to our respective strengths, and together help create something that will deliver value to the local community for generations to come.

Paul Adams, an Associate with WJM in Inverness, is working with Speymalt in relation to the legal and planning aspects of the proposal.  Paul said “WJM are well placed to assist our clients with their planning and legal requirements. I am excited to have been involved with this project from its early conception and look forward to assisting our clients throughout the planning process.
