Trust Law specialist Dale Ross given national recognition

Posted: 3rd December 2025

Blackadders’ Partner Dale Ross has been accredited as a Trust Law Specialist by the Law Society of Scotland.

He becomes one of only ten lawyers in Scotland to achieve this status and makes Blackadders one of only two firms in the country with two accredited specialists in Trust Law with Dale and fellow Partner Karen Phillips.

The Law Society accreditation recognises solicitors who have demonstrated a comprehensive and extensive knowledge of Trust Law and the mark of excellence signifies an exceptional level of expertise.

Laura McDowall, Head of Private Client at Blackadders, said: “This accreditation is testament to Dale’s dedication and expertise in Trust Law. We’re so proud his work has been recognised in this way. It reinforces our commitment to providing our clients with the highest standard of specialist legal advice, particularly in complex matters involving trusts and succession planning.”

Dale said: “I am delighted to have been awarded this specialist status by the Law Society of Scotland. Trusts can be a complex area of law and I hope this accreditation provides my clients with further confidence in our team’s ability to offer clear, expert guidance on matters ranging from trust creation to administration.”

Dale has more than 25 years of experience covering wills, tax planning, executries and trusts. His experience in executry and trust administration including many estates with a foreign element, and those with complex tax issues to be addressed, enables him to give tailored advice, anticipating and avoiding potential pitfalls which could otherwise arise.

Dale is also qualified as a solicitor in England and Wales and can advise clients with cross-border issues.

Blackadders’ Private Client department is home to leading specialists in all aspects of private client work including personal tax, trusts and executries. They act for a diverse range of clients including individuals, families, trustees, executors, charities and businesses throughout Scotland.
