Travel advice for rugby fans heading to RBS Six Nations games at Murrayfield
ScotRail is reminding rugby fans from Stirling travelling to Scotland’s Six Nations home games that trains will be extremely busy to and from Edinburgh.
Scotland will play England on Saturday 6 February, kicking off at 4.50pm, and France on Sunday 13 March, with a kick-off time of 3pm.
As with most special events, ScotRail will be adding carriages to trains to/from Edinburgh – including the Borders line for the first time.
A spokeswoman for ScotRail said, “The Six Nations matches are a big draw. We’ve done absolutely everything we can to boost capacity on key routes into the capital. We can’t make every train longer but will definitely be using every train we have on both days.
“If you’re going to Murrayfield, please allow extra time for travel, and buy your ticket in advance, not on the day. If you can delay returning to the station after the match, there will be less chance of having to queue.”
ScotRail will have extra staff on the ground to assist fans and, as with all special event trains, alcohol bans will be in place.
