Travel advice for rugby fans heading to RBS Six Nations games at Murrayfield
The ScotRail Alliance is reminding rugby fans travelling to Scotland’s Six Nations home games that trains will be extremely busy to and from Edinburgh.
Scotland will play Ireland on Saturday 4 February (KO 2.25pm), Wales on Saturday 25 February (KO 2.25pm), and Italy on Saturday 18 March (KO 12.30pm).
As with most special events, the train operator will be adding carriages to as many trains as possible before and after the games.
A ScotRail Alliance spokesperson said: “The Six Nations matches are a big draw. We’ve done absolutely everything we can to boost capacity on key routes into the capital. We can’t make every train longer but will definitely be using every train we have on both days.
“If you’re going to Murrayfield, please allow extra time for travel, and buy your ticket in advance, not on the day. The last trains of the night will be very busy, so please aim for an earlier service to avoid disappointment.”
The ScotRail Alliance will have extra staff on the ground to assist fans and, as with all special event trains, alcohol bans will be in place.
