Top Scottish litigator to lead dispute resolution growth at Aberdein Considine

Posted: 5th November 2018

One of Scotland’s leading litigation lawyers has been named as the new Head of Dispute Resolution at Aberdein Considine.

Euan McSherry – a Solicitor Advocate with rights of audience in both the Court of Session and the UK’s Supreme Court – has joined the firm as a Partner, based in Edinburgh.

He was previously a Partner with DWF LLP where he led the multi-national firm’s litigation team in Scotland.

Euan provides advice to clients across a range of sectors including retail, food and hospitality, and banking. He specialises in corporate and commercial work, insolvency, real estate, corporate crime and reputational risk management.

He has been involved in some of Scotland’s most high profile litigation cases over the past two decades, including the provision of contractual and litigation advice in complex cases involving SPFL football clubs.

More recently, he has been involved in a number of significant Court of Session cases, including acting for Serco in a £400million procurement challenge and representing pharmaceuticals giant Pfizer in two appeals to the Inner House.

Aberdein Considine offers property, legal and financial services to private and commercial clients across Scotland and the north of England.

It works with global banking giants such as Royal Bank of Scotland and Lloyds Banking Group, as well as major high street retailers such as Greggs PLC.

Following a number of acquisitions, the firm has been heavily focusing on expanding its legal teams and specialisms throughout the country.

Managing Partner, Jaqueline Law, said Euan’s arrival was a watershed moment for the partnership’s Dispute Resolution Practice Group.

“Euan is one of Scotland’s most highly rated litigation experts and we’re delighted he has agreed to join us to lead our national Dispute Resolution team,” she said.

“His knowledge and experience will be vital for our clients as we look to help them protect their businesses and support their growth ambitions.

“During his career Euan has been involved in a number of high profile litigation matters, including the progression of all commercial property and residential lending litigation and recoveries work for UK Asset Resolution in Scotland, which sits well with our industry-leading lender work.

“In addition to that, he brings a range of experience across the commercial, real estate and corporate crime and media law spheres, giving us great breadth. He is a lawyer of the highest calibre.”

Euan added: “Aberdein Considine has developed an impressive reputation throughout Scotland and that is very much down to the hard work and commitment of my new colleagues. In leading the team my focus will be to ensure that we use all the tools and resources at our disposal to make sure our clients get the very best support and advice, where and when they need it.”

Twenty of the firm’s lawyers were ranked and received personal recommendations in the 2018 edition of the Legal 500. The firm has been recognised for its Corporate and Commercial Law, Commercial Property, Commercial Litigation, Employment Law and Family Law work. For the fourth year running the firm has also been awarded the coveted “Top Tier” status in the field of Debt Recovery.
