Thorntons brings its Charity Wills campaign to the capital

Posted: 30th August 2019

September will mark the launch of leading law firm Thorntons’ first Charity Wills month in Edinburgh – all in aid of Cash for Kids.

Thorntons’ Charity Wills initiative 2019 runs from Sunday 1 to Monday 30 September and for any Wills created during this time, the firm will not charge a fee but instead ask clients to make an equivalent donation to Cash for Kids.

More than £380,000 has been raised for Cash for Kids through this initiative since it first launched 23 years ago – with hopes the 2019 total will set a new record now the firm’s Edinburgh operation is involved.

Morna Coutts, Private Client Partner at Thorntons in Edinburgh, said: “People often delay making a Will for fear it’s a morbid experience and think it can wait for tomorrow. But it’s usually a quick and simple process and can save you money and time. It also makes matters much easier for family members in the long run.

“Our Charity Wills month is the perfect time to sort your affairs and support a vital local cause at the same time. The initiative has proven to be a huge success in Dundee, Angus, Perth and Fife in the past so we hope our clients here in Edinburgh will get behind it and help boost our fundraising pot for 2019.”

Victoria Hendry, Cash for Kids Charity Manager, said: “We are delighted yet again to be working with Thorntons on their Charity Wills month campaign. We are extremely grateful for the continued support from Thorntons and their clients which enables us to support local disadvantaged children across our local communities.

“We are particularly excited about the launch of Charity Wills month in Thorntons’ Edinburgh office this year where we hope to see the campaign grow. The money raised will make a huge difference and we hope to see our Radio Forth listeners get behind this fantastic campaign.”
