SWIT_01Scotland Women in Technology (SWiT) is a group initiative which aims to attract, inspire, empower and retain women by developing a community and network to help grow women’s contribution in the technology.

It is run by a Board of passionate and motivated technology professionals who, between them, have an impressive background in advancing both their own and others’ careers and spreading the message across major events nationally and globally.

SWiT presented the first Awards event of its kind this year, in which they chose Heehaw as their video partner. Heehaw produced a promotional video that would promote SWiT widely across their website and social media platforms. This video was used to launch the awards event in Glasgow.

Lynsey Campbell, Board member from SWiT stated that the event started with a simple idea.

“We regularly review the award nominees for many female tech awards and generally see 1 or 2 (or no) names of technologists operating in Scotland. The awards are first of its kind to recognise technology talent in one room, and we have received an enormous amount of support locally and nationally to run these awards annually. We are extremely proud of what we have been able to achieve.”

Sami Young, Heehaw Producer Director, said

“It was an honour to work with SWiT and film inspirational women working and teaching in technology. The aim of the video was to show that SWiT celebrate women in technology and nurture young talent. To really portray these messages and inspire the women attending the event we decided to take the audience on a journey through a history of female innovators, transitioning into women working in technology now. We adopted the message “They are…us” allowing women at the event to realise their potential and how much of an impact they have within the technology sector in Scotland.”

QMS screen shot 1Quality Meat Scotland (QMS) is a public body organisation whose overarching responsibility is to promote and oversee the Scottish red meat industry.

QMS approached Heehaw to design and produce a short animation, outlining the benefits of eating red meat as part of a healthy balanced diet. Due to increased media attention over the past few years, red meat can often be under scrutinisation for the possible health risks it can reportedly cause. QMS were keen to challenge some misconceptions and prove that red meat can be consumed healthily as part of a balanced diet.

Penny Cobham, Producer at Heehaw said:

“Creating and developing this animation alongside QMS has been a brilliant experience. We were not restricted by any brand guidelines, allowing us to have creative freedom to think up an original style for the animation. Not only did we create characters and an animated style for this video, but QMS are hoping to utilise these designs within further marketing material.”

Jennifer Robertson, Health & Education Coordinator, from Quality Meat Scotland said:

“Never having developed this form of media content before, we were very pleased with all the help received from Penny and the team at HeeHaw. They listened to our brief and it was no problem to make adjustments when required. Overall we are delighted with the outcome and excited to use our new video on social media.”

WHO2The global effort to eradicate polio is drawing ever closer to reality.

It will be a historic achievement: polio could be the second human disease to be eradicated throughout history. It’s a drive that has been taken up on the ground in metropolitan cities, barren deserts, snow-capped mountainsides and conflict affected areas as well as by governments, NGOs and private partnerships the world over.

In an effort to outline the major steps taken to bring polio the brink, the World Health Organization–a spearheading partner of the Global Polio Eradication Initiative–commissioned Edinburgh based production company Heehaw to produce a series of three animations, each focused on different steps in the eradication process. The animations detail the extensive polio surveillance system, the efforts made to reach every last child, and the steps taken to during a response to a polio outbreak.

Michael Welsh, Heehaw’s Senior Producer said:
“It has been a real honour working on this series with the World Health Organization. I think animation was a great route for the project, and we have enjoyed the challenge of developing universal, bold imagery from often complex processes, and helping to distil the eradication process for a general audience. The global effort to eradicate polio has involved a staggering amount of people across countless countries. To be able to contribute, in our modest way, has been hugely rewarding.”
