The promotion is available to anyone travelling within the Perth city area, including Scone,  every Saturday and Sunday from Saturday 30 November until Sunday 22 December inclusive.

Douglas Robertson, Managing Director, Stagecoach East Scotland said: “Each year we see increased car traffic in Perth city centre in the run up to Christmas, which means increased congestion and air pollution, so we wanted to encourage people to use public transport instead this year.  We’re proud to offer a festive promotion which can both encourage people to shop locally as well as provide a travel saving to individuals. Our buses rely on the community and this is one way we can say ‘Thank you’ to those who use our services or are thinking of using them in the future.”

The offer aims to help people shop locally whilst also reducing congestion in the city centre during the busy festive period.

Stagecoach is also part of the MiRewards scheme across the city, which mean customers buying a ticket online, via the Stagecoach bus app or by using their contactless card on bus, can collect MiRewards points, which can later be converted into a gift card to spend with local retailers.

Colin Munro, Managing Director, MiRewards, commented: “This a fantastic initiative that further reinforces how Stagecoach are working together with Perth businesses to encourage people to enjoy everything that Perth has to offer.  Over 2,000 people have joined MiRewards and are now automatically rewarded every time they spend money with Stagecoach or any of the 60 great independent businesses in Perth that are part of the programme.”

More information on how bus users can collect rewards for their travel is available at https://www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/east-scotland/mi-rewards and the Stagecoach bus website can also be used to plan a journey from A to B or view full network maps and timetables.
