Stagecoach celebrate top national depot win at UK Bus Awards 2019

Posted: 21st November 2019
  • Gold award for Blairgowrie in Top National Depot category
  • Silver award for the prestigious Top Shire Operator category
  • Bronze in Sustained Marketing Excellence category for the Express City Connect Network campaign

Stagecoach East Scotland received multiple accolades at the 2019 UK Bus Awards.

The company was shortlisted for four awards across three categories covering both operations and marketing at the 24th annual awards ceremony held in London yesterday (Tuesday 19 November).

Stagecoach East Scotland’s Blairgowrie depot was named Top National Bus Depot at the event. Judges considered the strong community spirit and team structure within Blairgowrie which ensures that employees are an integral part of the community they live, socialise and work in. The accolade was previously won by Stagecoach East Scotland’s St Andrews depot in 2016 and the Fife depot was also shortlisted this year.

The company received the Silver award in the Top Shire Operator category for their operations in East Scotland. In the same category, the Gold award went to Stagecoach in Cumbria & North Lancashire.

In addition to this, Stagecoach East Scotland scooped a Bronze award for their Express City Connect network in the Award for Sustained Marketing Excellence category, having finished in the top three in the same category for the last 3 years.

Stagecoach East Scotland’s Express City Connect network operates high-quality coach services across Fife and into Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee, Aberdeen and Glasgow. Facilities such as leather seats, an on board toilet, charging points, air conditioning and free wifi have helped make the services an attractive alternative to the car, achieving increased passenger numbers.

There were also plenty of award wins for others across Stagecoach Group, including a gold award for Jack Abbott from Manchester in the Young Manager of the Year category and a Gold award for Stagecoach Yorkshire for Marketing Initiative of the Year.

Douglas Robertson, Managing Director for Stagecoach East Scotland said: “It’s great to be recognised by the UK bus industry. Winning these 3 awards is thanks to the continued hard work and support from all of our people in East Scotland.

“We’re extremely proud of the team at Blairgowrie, their win is testament to the brilliant team spirit at the depot. Our silver award in the Top Shire Operator category follows on from our award for Public Transport Operator of the Year at the Scottish Transport Awards earlier this year, so it’s great to see consistent high standards achieved by all.”
