Sodexo staff reach Women in Business awards final

Posted: 16th May 2018

Two rising stars from Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events are celebrating after reaching the final of a prestigious business award.

Junior Event Manager Tekla Solyom, and People Manager Suzanne Clark, have both been shortlisted in the Business Women Scotland: Women Hospitality and Tourism Awards.

In its second year, the Business Women Scotland awards aim to recognise the achievements of females in the tourism and hospitality industry in Scotland.

Based in the company’s headquarters in South Queensferry, Tekla and Suzanne reached the final as a result of their dedication to providing the high-quality service Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events is renowned for.

Tekla has spent eight years with Sodexo, beginning her career as a casual member of staff before recently being promoted to her current role, and has been named as a finalist in the ‘Front of House’ category in recognition of her professional approach and leadership qualities.

Suzanne has been shortlisted in the ‘HR Star of the Year’ category for her work on improving employee engagement within the company’s in-house staffing department, Prestige People.

Since joining Sodexo in 2011 as Prestige People Assistant Manager, Suzanne has had a significant impact on internal communications within the company, displaying a passion for motivating other members of staff to strive for success. This, alongside her innovation within the role, resulted in her promotion to Prestige People Manager in 2017.

David Forbes, Account Manager with Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events, said: “We are incredibly proud to see both Tekla and Suzanne recognised on a national level.

As a company, our staff are at the heart of everything we do and drive our passion to provide the best possible experience for guests and visitors to our venues.

“We look forward to the awards final and, whatever the outcome, will be celebrating with the team back in South Queensferry.”

Showcasing the wealth of talent with the Sodexo Prestige Venues & Events Scotland team, six members of staff were also recently awarded Hospitality Industry Trust (HIT) Scholarships. The employees were recognised for their hard work and dedication in ensuring guests and delegates visiting high profile venues including Hampden Park and The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, had the best possible experience.

These scholarships will allow staff to build on existing knowledge and bring new forms of innovation to the company.
