Slow Food ‘Meat-Up’ with MacDuff

Posted: 9th November 2021

MacDuff Family Butcher are very excited to host their first event with the team at Slow Food Edinburgh. Slow Food Edinburgh is one of the 1,500 convivia (local chapter) of the namesake international grassroots organisation. Slow food works to cultivate a good, clean, fair food culture by supporting local producers and biodiversity and raising awareness of global food issues.

To celebrate this event the MacDuff team will be bringing you an evening of tastings cooked up by Steven Brown, Chef Alliance Member at Slow Food Edinburgh – with environment and seasonality at the forefront. One of the special products which will be featured on the menu is the Longhills Portland rare breed hogget from Ayr, a beautifully slow-grown full flavoured meat. We will also have a tasting from Peelham farm, an organic meat & charcuterie farm on the east coast and Berkshire pork from Hoardweel Wagyu farm – famed for its marbled, sweet and succulent flavour that is developed over time.

Steve’s true passion for food was ignited, working for fellow Chef Alliance member Neil Forbes at Edinburgh’s Atrium restaurant. Stints in Germany, France, London & New York have all fuelled Steve’s love for food. Steve returned to his native Scotland with his young family in 2017, setting up his business, Pop. which aims to educate and inspire cooks of all ages and abilities in their homes, school and places of work as well as many pop-ups in unusual locations across the region.

We are very excited to host this exclusive event with Steve and the Slow Food Edinburgh team to bring you some truly special MacDuff produce. MacDuff are also looking forward to also hosting our suppliers and farmers on the night too who will be available for any questions you might have on their produce.

What’s included?

– Arrival drink of bubbles (provided by Sea Change – a social enterprise making waves of change with their eco-friendly wines.)

– 3 tastings (GF) cooked by Steve. Meat provided by MacDuff Butcher.
