Shepherd and Wedderburn partner to speak at Women in Compliance conference

Posted: 3rd October 2016

On 4 and 5 October, senior compliance professionals from a diverse range of industry sectors, including chief compliance and ethics officers, legal counsel, and heads of corporate responsibility and business conduct, will gather at C5’s 2nd Women in Compliance conference in London.

Designed to promote diversity and increase the prominence of women in the field of compliance, the two-day event not only allows participants to form new connections with industry peers but also provides a forum for discussion of gender stereotypes and other obstacles to advancing a career in compliance.

Leading UK law firm, Shepherd and Wedderburn, which is renowned for its award-winning regulatory and transactional expertise, will be represented at the conference by compliance, governance and financial regulation lawyer, Judy Krieg.

Before joining the firm’s Commercial Disputes and Regulation group at the beginning of the year, Judy worked as a financial regulator, Chief Compliance Officer, as well as in-house and external counsel. Her experience means she is well equipped to provide delegates with practical insights into securing board buy-in.

Judy will be joined on the panel by Alison Lazerwitz, Executive Vice President at Swarovski (Switzerland) and Savoula Demetriou, Team Leader, Compliance Implementation and Assurance Team (CIAT) at Allianz SE. Together they will provide advice on how to successfully gain access to the board, effectively communicate and get your message heard, as well as achieving the best outcome for your company.

Judy commented: “C5’s conference provides an excellent opportunity for leading women in compliance to connect, exchange experiences and share best practices. The sessions tackle some substantive compliance topics but also provide attendees with the practical skills that are so important for personal development and to be the best in their field.”
